Why do I get logged off automatically? If you do not check the Log me in automatically box when you log in, the board will only keep you logged in for a preset time. This prevents misuse of your account by anyone else. To stay logged in, check the box during login. This is not recommended if you access the board from a shared computer, e.g. library, internet cafe, university cluster, etc.
Technical details regarding Automatic Login:- DO NOT log out when exiting the BB.
- You MUST have your Cookies enabled.
- This feature does not function on Macs with certain browsers.

I registered in the past but cannot log in anymore! The most likely reason why you cannot log in is that you entered an incorrect username or password. Please check and double-check the e-mail you received when you first registered. If your account has been inactive for 12 months, it is now removed to reduce the size of the database. Please re-register to get involved in discussions.

I am having trouble logging in and/or I am having trouble registering. (Even more info!)
If you've used the IU BB before without any problems, we suggest that you review some changes that you may have made to your computer. Some situations that may cause new problems with your computer: - adding/updating new software, including any Windows Updates
- adding/updating new internet security options (Firewall, etc.)
- adding new hardware
- changing your "Internet Options" settings
The registration form, as well as the IU BB, does require that you are using a reasonably recent version of your internet browser. Also remember, in order to complete the BB registration process, you must click on the link in the email that is sent to you after you've clicked the SUBMIT button in the the registration form. If you do not receive this email and/or click on this link, you will not be registered with the IU BB.

Clearing your browser's cache can sometimes fix log in and/or registration problems?
Clearing your cache: EXIT / QUIT your internet browser before beginning any of these steps. Although this is not always necessary, it's sometimes useful. PC Users: (The following instructions are for Windows XP.)- Go to: START->CONTROL PANEL->INTERNET OPTIONS
- Be sure that the "General" tab is selected
- In the middle of the window, click on the "Delete Files..." button
- Click the checkbox for "Delete all offline content"
- Click "OK" in this window
- Now, click "OK" in this window
- Close the CONTROL PANEL window and launch your browser
Mac Users: (The following instructions are for Mac OS X.)
- Safari Browser:
- Launch Safari
- Under the menu heading "Safari", select "Empty Cache..."
- Click the "Empty" button
- QUIT Safari
- Launch Safari
- Internet Explorer Browser:
- Launch Internet Explorer
- Under the menu heading "Explorer", select "Preferences..."
- Click on the word "Advanced" in the left hand panel
- In the middle of the window, in the "Cache" section, click on the "Empty Now" button
- Click "OK" in this window
- QUIT Internet Explorer
- Launch Internet Explorer
If you need help with other browsers and/or other platforms, we advise doing a search on the web for additional help. Specifically, enter for your browser's name AND your computer's platform, as well as the words "help" AND "cache" into the search. (Example: "Windows XP" "Internet Explorer" cache help)

The time display is not correct! Except for daylight savings time, the times are almost certainly correct. However, what you may be seeing are the times displayed in a time zone different from yours. If this is the case, you should change your Profile setting for the time zone to match your particular area. Please note that changing the time zone can only be done by registered users.

How do I show an image (Avatar) below my username? A small graphic image that displays below a member's details in posts is known as an Avatar. Only one image can be displayed at a time per member. To select an Avatar, go to your Profile page (Profile page link is at the top of every BB page) to browse through our Avatar Gallery. Select an icon that you'd like to have display along with your member name for your postings. There are MANY different icons in the Gallery to choose. We are currently not offering the ability to use your own icons.
